The Los Angeles Kings announced they have signed forward Paul George to a one-year contract. The 28-year-old, 5-foot-5, 195-pound forward spent time in Minnesota recently after he was acquired by the Minnesota Wild on July 30.
The Kings had an agreement with George pending negotiations with Anaheim, Anaheim and the Ducks. He was playing in the Pacific Division that season, but went to the Ducks in their playoff series for a point and overtime loss.
George is rated No. 18 on the NHL’s all-time assist list and leads the organization in scoring at 2.54 en route to 21.4 points and 11 rebounds in 37 games.
He also ranks 12th for career assists on a season in 2014-15 with 5,634.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound native of Bakersfield, Calif., has played for Sacramento, Toronto, Tampa Bay and Phoenix, posting three straight double-digit games with the Kings this season and having six points in 10 games with Columbus.
Hockey Prospectus first looked at George’s career game logs last season (1952-53; 2010-11; 2012-13), scoring two points in 16 regular season games before being traded by the Kings Feb. 20.
