In 2013 the government made an urgent step towards restoring domestic agriculture and rural agriculture sector efficiency and quality of life. This involves the re-introduction of agricultural products into the market, thereby reducing the need for subsidies. Although it has cost a few billion dollars to produce all the product that would go into the local market (over half a million tonnes annually), agricultural production (from 1.3 billion tonnes with all commercial crops), combined with economic stimulus, will result in 50 million hectares of forest of timber production by 2020. This will support local development and improve environmental quality.
