After a day in Mars orbit, the rover will return a few days later for a follow-up science mission of its own, to study the impact of the planet on microbial life, a new study reports.

“The Martian system is not only an incredibly rich terrain but also a world of very interesting objects and organisms. The study provides insight into life’s evolutionary history in more complex environments that have been previously explored in a number of our earlier planetary systems,” lead author Tim van Vlietck, a PhD student at the Stanford University Center for Planetary Science, said in a release. “We hope by this study we can potentially be able to understand the dynamics of how these planets formed, how they evolved and how they got their life form.”

In the past 1.4 billion years, Mars has cooled down slightly, the planet’s atmosphere has increased, which led researchers to believe its orbit can be colder, a new study reported today in Nature Communications. https://cars45et.com/listing/land_rover/range_rover/2010
