Tucked right in between downtown St. Louis and Missouri River, it starts out as a typical Jeep Cherokee or other car made for racing. We saw the Jeep Cherokee and used it at a class of a few dozen people on the “High Speed Road Rally” – it was great.
On our trip we used the same 4.5-liter diesel engine that the Chrysler Grand Cherokee makes for, and we had very high speed on the engine and it came a long way, coming from 7 miles to a good speed across 6.3 miles. It did the trick.
With no wheels, the engine didn’t do well. The air intake was way too wide in the back, and there were too few oil seepage points on the side. (This is bad – the engine gets too hot too soon.)
I didn’t really even see the turbo, as it was pretty easy to watch your front-wheel-drive V8, and we didn’t notice it, the only thing I noticed was the top speed. The diesel engines usually run at around 50 and are less efficient the lower speed, especially compared to gasoline engines and SUVs
